Anton
European film hasn’t traditionally been made with the same budgets, at the same scales, as its American counterparts. But with such rich, diverse creativity in the European film industry, ANTON has established itself by being commercially ambitious on its behalf. In the process, it’s grown from film financier to independent studio that produces and sells award winning content.
To mark this point of evolution for the studio, ANTON partnered with us for a 360 rebrand - brand strategy, new visual identity, and website. As well as reflecting the studio’s global reach and distinctly European identity, the new brand needed to resonate with its wide range of industry partners, from distributors, to talent and audiences.
During the strategic phase, we crystallised the studio’s vision for European film-making. Focusing ANTON’S ambition on the industry it exists to enrich, we honed in on an intimate gravitas that sits at the heart of the brand’s personality. Alongside this, we evolved the studio’s name from Anton Corp, a legacy of its days as a financier, to ANTON — claiming a new level of boldness and confidence whilst retaining the reference to Anton Chekhov as a symbol of European creativity.
The visual identity celebrates ANTON’s role as an amplifier for film-making that is ambitious on behalf of its creative ecosystem, through a bold, understated confidence with a distinctly European sensibility. We developed a custom logotype, with references to European modernism/ Russian constructivism and inktraps that evoke cinematic lighting, as a foundational element. The wordmark serves as a visual anchor and framing device for the creativity ANTON fuels: establishing it as a brand that exists to enrich European filmmaking on its own terms, one that matches the commercial drive of its American peers but with a distinct creative vision.
The result is an identity that positions ANTON boldly within the world of cinema. With a visual system that can flex across the wide range of content the studio produces - from independent debuts to big budget genre pieces - it reflects the ambitious but cultivated edge that unites ANTON and the film-making it gives power to.
