As a senior strategist at A&P you may find yourself contemplating the future of decentralised finance; the next evolution of AI-led healthcare, or how to improve impact storytelling for a global sports brand. You’ll be leading strategy projects from the simple to complex, bridging brand, design and business strategies. And you’ll be contributing to creative projects where the strategist’s perspective helps move creativity forward. Importantly, you’ll be a critical part of our interdisciplinary team, inspiring exceptional designers and channelling highly-collaborative client partners, adding clarity and accuracy to the design, creative and innovation processes. Intellectual Profile

All of the above calls for great intellectual capabilities, people and leadership skills, empathy for the creative process, and high-quality standards. You are a good process leader, proactive, and an extremely capable communicator. You’ll be unphased by presenting and convincing at C-suite level, using your persuasively concise, natural storytelling ability and sharp and stylish writing to influence and impress.

Critically, you have the confidence to give clients the confidence to change. Your spark, gravitas and ability to confidently push beyond debate into speculation with clients demonstrates sound understanding of their environments and businesses, balancing the role of empathiser and provocateur deftly. The pressure of working ‘live’ in client settings - be it workshops, 1-2-1s or round tables - means you are fully comfortable with ambiguity, disparate inputs and viewpoints. You are an optimist at heart, using critical thinking skills on the fly to stress-test your opinion and outputs against a clients’ business priorities.

The Day-to-Day

- You’ll find effective ways to approach each project, identifying new perspectives on the challenge that will give our client partners a fresh take.

- You are comfortable leading day-to-day project planning, suggesting methodologies, conducting and capturing fieldwork, expert interviews etc. This may frequently involve directing junior members of the team (researchers, junior strategists and supporting PMs) and you enjoy the opportunity to expand strategic thinking in adjacent team roles.

- You’ll plan and implement numerous research methodologies to gather user and expert insights, translating them into tangible propositions and strategies. You know your tools and a broad range of research and analytical methods, applying them effectively and bringing also new approaches where they can be trialled.

- You’ll analyse research findings, identify and prioritise useful insights, synthesise workshop outputs, and sharpen them into directional inspiration for our design teams, lifting the quality of our new ideas and designs.

- You’ll also play a role in developing the Research Zone within our experimental workspace and lab, ‘Continuum’. You are culturally keyed in, curious and have a good understanding of trends, meaning you can quickly get to grips with the concepts and language of new subject areas. You enjoy directing trends work as much as you enjoy exploring how they will affect the world, and you know how to use them to inspire the design and innovation process.

- You’ll regularly evaluate creative work and build a reasoned case to support its development and direction, maintaining a solid bridge between strategy and reality. In team situations, you have a knack for succinctly capturing thoughts and expressing them to others, a strong design voice and point of view on where to go and why. As well as being passionate about great brands and great storytelling that can inspire the work, you believe great design creates impact, both in its ability to change the course of a brand, business or movement in the world, and you share this joyfully with your colleagues and clients alike.

What You'll be Working on

You’ll lead large and mid-size projects from inception to completion across a range of strategy practices, pursuing the strategy and intent through brand identities, retail experiences campaigns, content and activations. And you’ll support Design Directors on smaller projects where the Strategist is an adjunct to the design strategy process.

Key Responsibilities Include

- Champion the value of strategic planning, internally and externally
- Generate and present creative briefs to shape strategic thinking and focus
- Evaluate competitive and category trends to inform strategic recommendations and help clients across industries to navigate what’s happening with their brand
- Guide the design process from framing a challenge, to research and insights, to concept and implementation.
- Shaping new business responses with thought leadership in proposals and presentations
- Craft point-of-view documents that help position creative work in its best light
- Represent the target audience and their needs
- Partner with Project Leads to ensure client alignment
- Partner with the creative team to develop actionable, audience-centric ideas
- Engage directly with senior client

Desired Experience and Skills

- 5-10 years’ experience at an creative or design agency, in-house strategy team, an innovation or transformation consultancy, or a publisher.
- Ability to travel
- English fluency (written and spoken)
- Minimum B.A. degree or equivalent practical experience
- Range of professional/personal/academic experience also desirable
- Exceptional writing skills
- Experience in highly collaborative, team environments

- 9-Day Fortnight (every other Friday off, for nurture or to explore), our usual hours are 9.30-6pm, trialing hybrid working with everyone in the office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
